Q-Why would I consider leasing an instrument?
A-If your child is still growing and is in a smaller "fractional" size, it may be more cost effective to lease an instrument so that you can exchange for a larger size when necessary. You can also have the peace of mind knowing your child is involved in a program suited to his or her educational needs.

Q-Should I purchase the discount instrument on the internet?
A-Will the internet "store" service your violin if damaged? Can the teacher contact the "store" and have any problems immediately addressed? Who holds the internet "store" accountable if your instrument is improperly set up? Our shop sees approximately 1-2 cheap instruments per week that are inadequate for educational use. Unfortunately, the customer usually has no recourse to return the "item". Some internet companies are reputable and offer a good product, please consult your child's teacher before making any decision?

Q-Do "shop adjusted", "educator approved", or "meets published standards" mean an instrument meets certain educational criteria?
A-Not necessarily. It depends on the dealer of the instrument. In some cases, if someone feels the need to drive home the point that their cheap product is up to par, it may not be. There is no agency to monitor or "certify" the setup of stringed instruments.

Q-How do I learn more about the instrument I want to lease or purchase? I don't understand certain terms used in the item's description.
A-Please see our other FAQ pages, and consult your child's teacher.

Q-Are there inexpensive instruments available to purchase for my student that are set up to a proper educational standard?
A-Yes, please see your child's teacher for more information.

Q-Does a lease program offer equity in a final purchase?
A-Most lease programs offer some form of a final purchase incentive, either in the form of accrued equity or a specialized discount structure. Please compare several plans before choosing the one right for you.

Q- Does The Instrument Doc sell full size instruments when my child is ready?
A- Yes. We offer a nice assortment of private and workshop made full size instruments. We offer competitive pricing and unique products. If you participate in our lease program for at least one year, we give you an additional discount off of our lowest offered price!
