Professional Band and Orchestra Instrument Repair and Sales
This page is intended to answer many Frequently Asked Questions you may have regarding the Lease Agreement. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions not covered here. We are here to help you.
Q- Is this a rental purchase program?
A- No, it is a straight lease.
Q- Do I pay finance charges on my lease?
A- No.
Q- How do I know when my child is ready for a bigger instrument?
A- Generally, the teacher will inform you. While every child's needs are a little different, there is a reasonable test you can try. For violin/viola, have the child hold the instrument in playing position, whith the left arm fully extended. Now tell him/her to wrap their fingers over the scroll. Ideally, the fingers would just reach completely around the scroll and touch the pegbox. If they are quite short, a smaller size may be in order. If the fingers wrap far over, a bigger size may be needed. Allow a professional to size your student for the proper size instrument, especially cello or bass. Viola is generally the same, the fuller size instruments (about15.5"-16" or over) are dictated by personal comfort and sound preference.
Q- How do I get a larger instrument when needed?
A- Simply contact The Instrument Doc when you are ready. An instrument is in stock ready for you to trade up to. We will arrange to trade you out either at our shop, an affiliate store, or at your school. We will automatically update the instrument on your lease agreement. It's that easy.
Q- Does The Instrument Doc sell full size instruments when my child is ready?
A- Yes. We offer a nice assortment of private and workshop made full size instruments. We offer competitive pricing and unique products. If you participate in our lease program for at least one year, we give you an additional discount off of our lowest offered price!
Q- Where do I get my instrument maintenanced?
A- The Instrument Doc, LLC, is the only authorized repair facility. You can take your instrument to our shop by appointment, go to an affiliate store, or we may be able to pick it up from your school for you. Loaner instruments are available for instruments that require more attention.
Q- What strings are on my instrument?
A- All instruments leased from us are generally set up with D'Addario Prelude strings. Our basses are setup with D'Addario Helicore strings.
Q- Does the instrument have to be in good condition when it is returned?
A- Yes. With exception of minor acceptable wear, the instrument must be in good condition. All strings, tuners, bridge, and pegs must be functioning. The bow and case must also be returned in good condition. Any damage or missing parts will be billed to the customer. As of the time of this writing, all instruments leased by The Instrument Doc, LLC, are brand new.
Q- Why should I get my instrument from The Instrument Doc?
A- Quite simply, because we are an exclusively referral based business. Our shop is not open to the general public. Please see more About Us. We already have strong, longstanding relationships with numerous programs and professionals in the area. It is these relationships we wish to support.
